If you’re fully vaccinated you can travel overseas without a government exemption. Return travellers don’t have to quarantine in hotels or at home on arrival into selected Australian states*.
There’s a few things you’ll need to do before travelling overseas. Some airlines and destinations require you to show evidence of a negative COVID-19 test before departure. Different airlines and/or countries have different time limit requirements regarding testing before travel.
Check the requirements of the country you’re travelling to, see our destination guides, talk to your Travel Manager or visit Smartraveller.
Returning to Australia
The Australian government does not require COVID-19 testing prior to entry. Check if your airline requires a negative COVID-19 test result. Complete a Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) online within 72 hours of your departing flight.
