New Virgin Australia International Lounge Opens At Brisbane Airport

Business travellers heading overseas now have a stylish new lounge option at Brisbane Airport.

Virgin Australia’s long-awaited gateside lounge opened officially on Wednesday, 4 September within the international terminal. Conveniently located near gate 77 on the upper level of the departure lounge, My Lounge – Home of Virgin Australia offers the shortest walk of any lounge at the airport to the departure gates.

Virgin Australia Business Class passengers, Velocity Gold and Platinum members and Virgin Australia Lounge program members have free access to My Lounge.

Other passengers travelling with any airline in any cabin class who have checked in to their flight are also able to access My Lounge for an entry fee ($60 for adults and $30 per child aged two to 11 years when booked online). Groups can book online to be seated together – groups of eight or more will need to book via Guest Relations.

Operated in partnership with No1 Lounges, which has lounges at several UK airports, My Lounge is set to redefine the pre-boarding experience in this new dedicated space. Open from 5am to 10pm for use three hours before your flight departure, the relaxed, welcoming loft-style space can accommodate up to 108 guests and features a kitchen, lounge and games room as well as showers and hairdryers. The decor is warm and inviting with the contemporary space housing plenty of seating and table options with views of the runway from the large windows.

Guests can help themselves to hot and cold grazing options for casual snacks available all day and enjoy barista coffee, Australian wines, spirits and craft beers and soft drink on tap. You can mix your own cocktail at the Bar Island, too. There's an emphasis on locally sourced food and drink, so guests can enjoy Newstead Brewery beers and the food with rotate every month to highlight a different region such as Europe, Asia or the USA.

And if you need to stay connected or work before you board, there’s a small working area, plenty of charging points and unlimited Wi-Fi or you can relax with the range of magazines and newspapers available with lots of seating available.

We fly to the most destinations with the most amount of flights of any airline in Brisbane. Over the past year we have flown more than half a million passengers to 12 different destinations in and out of Brisbane, so getting the lounge experience right for people here in Brisbane is absolutely crucial. We know in and out of Brisbane there’s a strong business travel focus but also a stronger leisure travel focus than we have in some of our other destinations. Getting the balance right in the lounge is very very important. We worked closely with the No1 team on the design and it is an outstanding result."
