Eurostar Launches Direct London–Netherlands Rail Services
Eurostar, the high-speed rail service that links major UK cities with mainland Europe, has announced an upgrade to its London to Amsterdam service.
Business travellers destined for ‘ol Londontown can now easily venture a little further afield, thanks to Eurostar’s direct London-Amsterdam return service. From April 30th 2020, visitors will be able to take advantage of an effortless connection under the Channel to fit an extra city (or two) into their itinerary.
Though Eurostar has been running a seamless journey from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam since 2018, the service will now operate fully direct journeys both to – and from – the Netherlands.
The updated service will initially operate three services per day from the UK to the Netherlands, with two new, direct inbound journeys from Amsterdam to London increasing to a third and then a fourth.
Direct and efficient, the Eurostar is a desirable alternative to air travel while in Europe. Visitors will be able to take advantage of hassle-free travel (i.e. avoiding time consuming airport security), as well as fast and convenient check in, lack of queues and baggage reclaim upon arrival, free baggage allowance, onboard WiFi and entertainment.

Conscious travellers will also appreciate the sustainability benefits: a journey between London and Amsterdam results in 80% less carbon emitted per passenger than the equivalent flight. Eurostar also runs a fantastic initiative through which customers can actively support the reforestation of woodland in Europe, with the rail provider planting a tree for every service that it operates across its routes.
Whether travelling for business or pleasure, getting to continental Europe for a side trip is just that little bit more tempting. An easy Eurostar journey takes travellers between city centres in comfort and style, but for those looking for a more spacious surrounding, Standard Premier class provides a perfect setting. Guests can relax with food and refreshments served directly to your seat while travelling at high-speed
The high-speed train service also links London’s St Pancras International with other major hubs; Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International, Paris, Brussels, Lille, Calais, Disneyland Resort Paris, Avignon, the French Alps, Lyon, Avignon, Marseille, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Prices start from just £35 (AU$68) each way for the London-Amsterdam connection, or from €44 each way (if you book wisely) between London and Paris, Brussels, Lille and Calais.
Whether you’re Europe bound for additional business travel, or using London’s close proximity to vivacious European cities as an excuse to use up some annual leave, business travellers can now take advantage of efficient rail travel to get there, just a little bit faster. Swapping out the Thames for an array of canals, the underground for above-ground cycling or British grub for stroopwafels and frites has never been easier.
