Celebrating NAIDOC week

Celebrating NAIDOC week

With the theme of Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! in mind, Flight Centre Business Travel (FCBT) employees are invited to participate in and support a variety of initiatives planned for the company’s NAIDOC week celebrations (3 – 10 July).
As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), FCBT will join other Flight Centre Travel Group businesses to learn more about and celebrate the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders.
Throughout the week screenings will go ahead in each state for staff keen to take in the film Wash My Soul in the River’s Flow - an epic tale of loss, love and what it means to truly come ‘home’.

The film is a cinematic reinvention of a legendary concert featuring First Nations singer-songwriters Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter working with Paul Grabowsky and the 22-piece Australian Art Orchestra.
A NAIDOC inspired menu will be on offer for the week at MOFOS restaurant at FCBT’s HQ in South Brisbane, plus digital screens around offices and in the HQ foyer will highlight the week-long celebrations.

Staff are being encouraged to be part of the conversation by taking part in FCTG’s diversity and inclusion program and use their volunteer leave to support a First Nations charity, community organisation or not-for-profit.
FCTG has recently appointed a new Engagement Leader for its Australian operation, which will oversee the company’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) program.
Brisbane-based Rachel Alaimoana will be the new face of the company’s D&I program in Australia. Rachel kicks off in her new role with an official welcome to NAIDOC week for staff where she will explain the importance of NAIDOC.
NAIDOC activities form part of FCTG’s Reconciliation Action Plan, which includes a range of initiatives such as these mentioned and more strategic partnership work that will take place during 2022 up to January 2024.
